Whitefish volleyball narrowly misses qualifying for divisionals

The Lady Bulldogs played cross-county rival Columbia Falls in a divisional play-in game on Monday, but fell to the Wildkats in five sets.

The play was back and forth with CFalls taking the first set, then Whitefish claimed the next two. However the Bulldogs lost the momentum in the final two sets. Columbia Falls won over Whitefish 25-10, 23-25, 19-25, 25-17, 15-8.

The Wildkats were the fourth seed in the Northwest A conference and Whitefish was fifth.

In the match Whitefish senior Jadi Walburn led her team at the net with 12 kills, and sophomore Brooke Zetooney recorded 10 kills. Bulldog Emma Trieweiler had four aces and 11 digs. Lauren Ramsey also had four aces. Freshman Kaydence Blackwell led the Dogs in assists with 13.

Whitefish also played Browning on Friday and won over the Lady Indians in four sets, 16-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-18.

Against Browning Zetooney led with 11 kills while Bailey Smith had eight. Whitefish Sophomore Ainsley Scott recorded 14 set assists.

Dropping the play-in game to Columbia Falls ended Whitefish’s season.

Columbia Falls will be the fourth seed from the Northwest A at the divisional tournament in Ronan this weekend.
