Ballet company holds virtual spring production
The Northwest Ballet Company presents its 41st Annual Spring Production virtually for this 2021 season.
To view the performance, "Alors on Danse (So We Dance)", visit their website, www.northwestballet.com and click on the link. A $25 payment is needed for a virtual ticket, but the show can be viewed multiple times between Wednesday, May 12 through Sunday, May 23.
This year's show features classical excerpts from "Swan Lake," "Cinderella," "Sleeping Beauty," "Don Quixote," "Coppelia," "Chorus Line", as well as new contemporary choreography by three Northwest Ballet School faculty, and six Northwest Ballet Company members or guests.
In thinking about this spring's production Owner and Director Marisa Roth was flooded with thoughts and emotions.
"It's been so great to be in the studio with my company girls and all of our Northwest Ballet School students (who are also preparing for their own recitals soon), as last year around this time our valley and our state was going through a stay-at-home-order,” she said. “I'll never take for granted being able to go to 'work' everyday. Although adhering to all the safety precautions has been daunting, it's worth it to have those kids in our dance space for classes and rehearsals, and working towards something uplifting that brings them much pleasure and is so good not only for the body and mind, but for the soul and the spirit as well."
Home-school senior and principal dancer Madison Brewer-Leatzow is experiencing her last dance with the company.
"I have been dancing for so long it feels like, and has been, some of the best years of my life,” she said. “But, it's time for a new adventure; yes, it's the end of an amazing season and brings a tear to my eye, but the memories I have with all the wonderful people at the Northwest Ballet will last a lifetime."
