Two newcomers have been elected to serve on the Whitefish Fire Service Area board.

Ed McGrew and George Losleben were elected by voters on Tuesday to serve on the board.

McGrew earned 819 votes while Losleben tallied 745.

Current board members Clavin Dyck and James Dyon earned 319 and 211 votes, respectively.

David Mangold and Michael Zorn both appeared on the ballot though each had dropped out of the race. Mangold got 114 votes and Zorn earned 132 votes.

McGrew has lived in Whitefish for 18 years. He has a background in IT work, and since 2019 has been running Ed McGrew’s BBQ here.

George Losleben has owned property in Whitefish for 49 years, and is a retired attorney. He grew up in Malta and graduated from the law school at the University of Montana.

The board oversees fire service for the area generally surrounding Whitefish outside the city limits. The City of Whitefish Fire Department provides fire service to the rural district through a contract with the rural board.
