Nordic ski team has strong showing this season
The Glacier Nordic Competitive Team has been putting out some amazing results this season across the Intermountain Region.
With COVID restrictions locally, and at many race venues, this year has looked quite different but the good results and smiles on our athletes have stayed the same, according to team organizers.
The team was able to compete locally at races in Libby and the Carnival Skate Race.

The Glacier Nordic competitive team was represented in the three Intermountain Division Junior National race series this year. Skiers travelled to Soldier Hollow, Utah, Bozeman and McCall, Idaho. These races bring teams from across the region and western U.S. to compete in individual sprint and distance events. In a typical year results from this race series are used to form the Intermountain Junior National Team.
In Soldier Hollow the second weekend in January, Jacob Henson was ninth in the 10K skate race and 19th in a classic sprint for the overall U18/U20 category.
In Bozeman, on Jan. 30-31, Glacier Nordic had three athletes put out some amazing skate ski races. Ethan Amick placed ninth in the U14 boys 3.5K race. U18 athlete Ruedi Steiner and U20 Winslow Nichols raced through a tough 11K race course with Steiner placing 16th among U18s and Nichols placing 13th among U20s with a time of 38:58.
All Glacier Nordic racers sprinted around a 1.5K loop as part of the competition. U14 Ethan Amick had his career best result placing fourth. For the U18/U20 category Steiner held his place at 16th and U20 Nichols moved up to 12th in his age group
