Glacier Twins win on road in Libby, Polson

The Glacier Twins A team picked up three more conference wins while dropping one last weekend.
On Friday playing in Libby, the Twins split with the Loggers when they dropped the first game of the double-header 6-5 before blowing them away in the second game 18-4. Then on Sunday Glacier took down the Mission Valley Mariners A in a couple of close games — winning 4-1 in the opening game and 6-2 in the second game of the afternoon.
Against the Loggers, the two teams were tied up at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning when a Libby player was hit with a pitch which in turn gave them the winning run in walkoff fashion. The Twins had pulled ahead in the third inning scoring four runs as Mason Peters, Jacob Polumbus, George Robbins, and Mikey Glass powered the inning with RBIs. However in the sixth and seventh innings the Twins allowed Libby five runs to take the game.
In Friday’s second game on the Libby home field, the Twins got on a scoring hot streak which put the Loggers away easily despite giving up four runs in the bottom of the third inning. The team tallied up nine hits as Danny Dunn and Peters both had multiple hits to lead the Twins in the game. Glacier also played a clean game while not committing any errors against Libby.
Just a couple days later the Twins traveled to Polson where they earned a couple of wins over the Mariners.
In the opening contest of the day, Mission Valley held the lead at 1-0 for most of the game. The Twins finally scored in the top of the sixth and then took the lead when Robbins singled in the same inning. Zach Veneman was the leader at the plate going 3-for-4 and also hit a home run in the seventh inning.
Mission Valley was the first to get on the scoreboard again in the latter game, but the Twins overcame them with a four-run inning in the fourth and held that lead through the remainder of the game. In that inning Taylor Bryan singled resulting in a run, an error scored another run for the twins and then Stevyn Andrachick homered on a 2-0 count to score two runs.
Veneman started out on the mound for Glacier in that one and pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one.
Glacier was also supposed to host the Bitterroot Bucs on Wednesday, June 9, but the games were canceled due to heavy rain throughout the day.
The Twins are on the road again this week heading to a tournament in Lewistown that runs from Thursday, June 17 through Sunday, June 20.
