Cleanup of the next section of the Whitefish River was set to begin. It was the third phase of cleanup and was expected to use a wet dredging system to suck up contaminated soil in the river and move it to another location.

Neighbors of a proposed planned unit development south of the Houston Point subdivision were protesting it. The development was a patchwork of 15.5 acres along Houston Drive and Duff Lane and was set to involve townhouses in clusters of two to eight units per building.

Joining the ranks of new enterprises cropping up in Whitefish, the shop, Donut Time, located at 17 Central Avenue was opened by co-owners Bill Sharp and Jessie Lagge.
