Dr. Jonathan Amick is taking over in the role of Chief Medical Officer at North Valley Hospital.

Amick, who is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, has served as the hospital’s chief of staff since 2019 and Director of Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Services since 2013.

He takes over in his new role as Chief Medical Officer on Feb. 1.

“I am truly honored and blessed for the opportunity to be the next Chief Medical Officer at North Valley Hospital,” Amick said. “I look forward to working with staff throughout the hospital and continue to provide quality care for our patients while looking for ways to enhance their care.”

Amick has been working in Whitefish since 2008 and previously worked at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

During his tenure at North Valley Hospital, Amick has been recognized by his staff for his embodiment of the Planetree philosophy having been awarded the Spirit of Planetree award in 2015 and Provider Champion in 2020.

At North Valley, Amick has played a key role on surgery teams, keeping operating rooms running efficiently contributing to the hospital’s high scores in patient satisfaction, according to a release from the hospital.

“Dr. Amick is always looking for ways to make things run better, and he goes above and beyond to look out for his staff,” said North Valley Hospital Director of Surgery Services Rob Romanelly. “He once brought in homemade pizza for his staff, and in the beginning of the pandemic when masks were in short supply, he saw to it that staff had proper protection. He’s very positive all the time and you can tell that he loves this hospital.”

The chief medical officer works as an intermediary between medical staff and hospital leadership to communicate priorities from all parties, disseminate information, and advocate for needs of the medical staff and the community, according to the hospital.

“I am just one part of the team,”Amick said. “North Valley Hospital excels because everyone works together for our patients, and it’s a whole team approach in which everyone feels comfortable to speak. I am one part of that team, and I look forward to working with everyone and bringing those ideas to the table.”

Amick lives in Whitefish with his best friend and wife of 20-plus years, Dr. Kristin Yandora, and three kids Hannah, 18, Ethan, 13, and Meghan 11. He enjoys mountain biking, hiking and skiing.
