Whitefish speech third at virtual Corvallis tourney
The Whitefish speech and debate team has been battling it out with Columbia Falls and Frenchtown all season — last weekend’s tournament was no different.
The Bulldogs came in third in the sweepstakes with 134 points, while Frenchtown took first with 172 points and Columbia Falls finished second with 140 points.
Whitefish’s Lucy Schindler was a double champion, placing first in both dramatic interpretation and memorized public address. Bulldog Abigail Bowden also continued her streak of excellence this season by again placing first in extemporaneous speaking and second in the impromptu category.
Adrienne Healy took second in the informative category as well.
This was the last invite before divisionals which will take place virtually on Saturday, Jan. 23.
“I’m excited looking ahead to divisionals this upcoming weekend,” Whitefish speech and debate head coach Sara Mueller said. “The competition is strong among the top-three teams — Frenchtown is absolutely lights out in debate, and Columbia Falls is so balanced on both sides. It will take our best efforts to place among them.”
