TEE TO GREEN

Golf course remains busy

Even with the heat and the smoke in the air the Whitefish Lake Golf Course remains busy with mostly full tee sheets. This year’s online tee time procedures are working well and have been met with satisfaction from members and guests. The long waits on the phone to get a tee time are pretty much a thing of the past as more times are available on our website. Our maintenance crew is managing to keep both courses in great condition. Hopefully, we will get some rain soon to help our irrigation system keep up and make the trees smile.

Member/Guest Tournament

The annual member/guest tournament is set for Aug. 28 and 29 this year at Whitefish Lake Golf Club, but the registration is nearing capacity so members are urged to get their team in ASAP. This event features a net best ball format the first day and modified Stapleford scoring system on day two where both scores are counted. Registration is available online at golfwhitefish.com.

Do not become a technician on the course

Under pressure, many golfers revert to thinking about swing mechanics instead of focusing on their target. Thinking about swing mechanics and positions will only cause you to restrict your swing. Over analyzing can actually cause you to prevent the natural swing path and reduce your ball striking ability. Relax and trust your swing and swing with freedom. A good pre-shot routine focused on your target will help you relax and execute the shot.
