Board Election for WLGA

Voting is now open for Tier One members to select the next group of Board of Directors for Whitefish Lake Golf Club. There are six men and two women running for the board for the soon to be open three year terms. Stop by the Golf Shop and ask the staff for a ballot to cast your vote.  We will check your name off the list of eligible voters to track who has voted in the 2020 election.  Voting will close at the annual meeting on Oct. 3.  Personal bios are available should you wish to read about each of the candidates that are running for the board.

Cart Path Improvements

A special shout out to Frank Landis for his quality work on the new cart path by 16 green and 17 tee on the North Course. The rock wall looks great and adds another flare to the path as it nears the 16th green. Cart path improvements are planned for 17 and 8 on the South for later this season as both of those paths have damage caused by tree roots lifting the asphalt.  With well over 9 miles of cart paths on the courses it is a constant maintenance need to keep the paths in good shape. We are fortunate to have wall to wall paths that enable us to play even in wet conditions.

Membership Growth

The total number of members at the golf club this year has increased significantly with more people discovering the fun of playing as well as a safe activity for the outdoors during the pandemic.  We appreciate all our members and hopefully we will continue to gain new members going forward while retaining our current ones.

Busy Practice Facility

The new practice facility has grown in popularity this year with what seems like someone always out using the new expanded area. When you are practicing sand shots try drawing two lines in the sand about 3-4 inches apart and then hit the back line while continuing through the front line. Remember you are really blasting the sand out on green side bunker shot as you drive the club under the ball and the sand lifts it out.  Remember you are hitting down and through so put about 80% of your weight on your forward foot to ensure you actually hit down about 2-3 inches behind the ball.
