With the threat of a lawsuit looming, City Council voted to bring back zoning amendments to the U.S. 93 strip. Council the month before backed away from a controversial proposal to expand the WB-2 zone, which was created to limit retail uses on the highway.

A slow moving tornado passed through Whitefish causing no damage. The twister bounced from Big Mountain to Whitefish Lake and then to Iron Horse.

The plans had been approved and the bond set, all that was left for school officials to do was convince the community that a $3.3 million expansion of Muldown Elementary School was necessary.

The mayor resigned after voters decided to switch to the city manager form of government, meaning that the city manager would see to the day-to-day operations of the city.
