FEC suspends disconnects

| March 24, 2020 12:05 PM

To support their members financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, Flathead Electric Cooperative is suspending disconnects and waiving late fees until further notice.

“The health and well-being of our members and employees is our number one priority at this time,” said FEC General Manager Mark Johnson. “We understand that many members will face financial challenges as this situation evolves, and we are committed to helping those who need additional time to pay their bill.”

Johnson added that this decision is meant to provide temporary relief during a difficult time, and that the electric bills will still be due in the future. Members should expect continued delivery of billing statements, and electric bills will not be forgiven at the end of the disconnect suspension.

“Please remember that FEC is a not-for-profit electric cooperative owned by the members we serve,” Johnson said. “Which means that every member is responsible for paying for the electricity consumed in their home or business.”

FEC is urging members to pay what they can to avoid falling behind on their account, as well as to allow FEC to continue covering Co-op expenses.
