Honor Chappy with ski run

| June 24, 2020 1:00 AM

I read with much pleasure Keith Veile’s suggestion that a run on Whitefish Mountain be named after Chris “Chappy” Chapman. I couldn’t agree more.

After skiing at The Big for well over 20 years, I truly believe that no one was a better ambassador for the resort than was Chappy. He never met anyone on a chair who wasn’t his friend. I would go so far as to suggest that perhaps one of the generic run names (think Good Med or Big Ravine) on the front side could be re-named for him, as Chappy’s Run.

I will never forget during the first year of Big Vert, seeing Chappy skiing down Toni Matt eating a sandwich with one hand and scraping rime off of his goggles with the other hand. This one moment so personified his get-go.

I am sure I’m not the only international member of Chappy’s fan club, but no one feels more strongly than I do about what he did for his favorite ski area. God bless you, Chappy.
