County adds two cases of COVID-19

Two additional cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Flathead County bringing the county’s total number of cases thus far to 39.

Prior to Saturday, the county had not recorded a confirmed case in the last two months. A woman over the age of 60 with no recent travel history was confirmed as testing positive and a man over the age of 70 also tested positive.

The Flathead City-County Health Department says the cases are under investigation.

“We want to remind Flathead County residents of the presence of COVID-19 in our community,” Health Officer Hilary Hanson said in the release. “With businesses reopening, it is important that everyone continues to do their part to prevent the spread. We must continue working together to protect our most vulnerable neighbors.”

Of those who have tested positive for the virus in the county, 35 have recovered and two have died.

Statewide, the total confirmed cases as of Tuesday now sits at 614, according to the state. There have been 19 deaths in the state as a result of the virus and 535 patients have recovered. About 64,000 tests have been performed in the state.

The Flathead City-County Health Department reminds folks that the following guidelines should still be observed:

• Vulnerable individuals should continue to follow the stay at home guidance.

• All individuals should socially distance (at least 6 feet apart) from non-household members.

• All individuals should wear a cloth face covering in public spaces where social distancing is not possible.

• All individuals should stay home if they are sick.

• All individuals should continue to wash hands frequently with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
