Solo only for Big Mountain Run

| July 28, 2020 2:17 PM

The 38th Annual Big Mountain Run is a solo challenge this year.

Challenge yourself and your friends and family to run or hike the 3.8 mile the Danny On Trail to the summit of Big Mountain, between through Aug. 1. Register, run on your own, and report your time through runsignup.com.

Runners will compete for the titles of King and Queen and Prince and Princess of the Mountain and win hand painted plates. Ribbons will be awarded for those under 16. All runners finishing the course in a time less than their age (women — age plus 10 minutes) qualify for the Birthday Club and receive the coveted asterisk by your name.

Glacier Nordic’s Big Mountain Run is the oldest organized run in the Flathead. Some of the first runners from 1983 still run or hike each year, vying for Birthday Club worthy times.

The cost is $20 per individual, $55 per family, $10 Juniors (16 and under). The proceeds benefit the nonprofit Glacier Nordic Club’s youth programs. Last year over 200 youth from first timers to experienced racers got outside in the winter through their programs. For more information visit glaciernordicclub.org.
