The popular Great Northern Bar downtown is temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee last worked at the bar on July 5 and is now under quarantine, according to a post by the bar on Facebook on Saturday.

“The health and well being of our customers and employees is always our top priority,” the bar said noting it felt important to confirm that an employee had tested positive.

The Great Northern says it is working closely with the City of Whitefish and the Flathead City-County Health Department to continue to keep the community’s health at the forefront of any decisions.

“We thank you for your continued support and look forward to serving you again when we know it is safe to do so,” the bar said in its post.
