Resort’s pass sales lead to food bank donation
Whitefish Mountain Resort recently presented a check for $2,500 to the North Valley Food Bank.
Last month the resort announced its intention to donate $25 to the North Valley Food Bank for the first 100 Winter 2020-21 season passes paid in full. Once pass sales opened, it took less than a week to hit the mark.
“North Valley Food Bank provides an invaluable service to our community and during the last few months it has stepped up to increased demand, and helped families to supplement their needs at a time when they needed it more,” said Whitefish Mountain Resort CEO Dan Graves. “We are grateful to the response from our dedicated season passholders that helped us to raise this donation so quickly.”
North Valley Food Bank has seen a tremendous increase in services since the COVID-19 outbreak.
North Valley Food Bank’s Executive Director Jessy Lee said the food bank increased its distribution from six hours to 14 hours per week as a result of the pandemic.
“In that time, we have seen an average 55 percent increase in the number of households served and an 81 percent increase in the pounds of food distributed each month,” Lee said. “The community has stepped up in a thousand creative ways to support our growth. We are thankful for folks like Dan Graves and Whitefish Mountain Resort who continue to invest in our work year after year. We couldn’t do what we do without them.”
