Looking back on a year of community care

This was a busy year at North Valley Hospital, and our staff and employees worked hard to maintain our high quality of patient centered care with increased volumes, new services, and new technology. Here we review some highlights of 2019 as your community hospital.

Our caregivers worked hard to earn a Guardian of Excellence Award in quality.

The entire North Valley Hospital team was proud to receive a Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award in patient experience, which recognizes the hospital for scoring in the 95th percentile for four quarters in a row.

With the community, we raised money for suicide prevention and mental health services like TMS.

Through philanthropic efforts of the NVH Foundation Board of Directors and generous donors, the NVH Foundation raised $380,000 to purchase and install TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) equipment at North Valley Behavioral Health. The additional funds will go toward a partnership with the Nate Chute Foundation to support their work in the Flathead Valley addressing mental health and suicide prevention.

We celebrated our Planetree Award recipients.

The 2019 Planetree Caregiver of the Year, Becky Cox, was recognized by the community and celebrated for her teamwork and high level of patient care in the emergency department.

Our provider champion was Brittany Coburn, NP-C of North Valley Professional Center in Columbia Falls. Coburn works diligently to provide care for students and teachers at Columbia Falls High School through the School Based Health Clinic.

Alan Satterlee, NVH Foundation Executive Director, received the Jake Heckathorn Spirit of Service Award for his commitment to serving the community by supporting employees and patients with philanthropic projects. Alan is well known in the hospital as a positive example of the Planetree philosophy.

We added the Mako robot to our offerings in orthopedic and robotic surgery.

The Mako robot was installed in October at North Valley Hospital, providing advanced 3D imaging technology for orthopedic surgeries. As the second hospital in Montana to install the Mako robot, North Valley Hospital is at the forefront of robotic technology in the state.

Our employees and caregivers made a difference for our patients.

In 2019 at North Valley Hospital, we served the community with over 8,200 emergency room visits, 2,472 surgical procedures, and welcomed 556 newborn babies at The Birth Center. We are honored to provide this care to our community and thank you for your support.
