WTC holds auditions
The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for two upcoming productions.
• Auditions for the production of “Sylvia” are on Aug. 30 and 31 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. Arrive early to fill out an audition application, fill out a waiver form, and review the script. Please enter at the north side of the building near WTC’s parking lot and conference room. Masks are required when you enter the building but you will be able to remove them during your audition. Please do not attend auditions if you are feeling sick.
“Sylvia” follows Greg and Kate who have recently moved to New York City from the ‘burbs after becoming empty nesters. During a walk in Central Park, Greg, who’s suffering through a mid-life crisis, discovers a dog with a heart-shaped tag that reads simply “Sylvia” and becomes hopelessly smitten. Greg brings home the perky pooch — hilariously played by a real-life actor who brings Sylvia’s every thought to life - only to find that Kate does not want a dog, let alone one that jumps, slobbers, chews up books and is clearly competing for Greg’s affections. Called a “beautiful, funny, touching and profound play,” “Sylvia” is a modern romantic comedy about unconditional love, the need for connection, and how a dog may be just the ticket to save a marriage.
The cast will be composed of two men and two women, ages 20s and up. Pages from the script will be provided at the audition. If you would like to familiarize yourself with the script, it is available at valley public libraries.
Kim Krueger is the director for this production. Rehearsals begin on Sept. 3 and will be held Monday through Friday from 6-7 p.m. to 9-10 p.m. There are seven performances over two weekends on Oct. 15-18 and 22–24.

• The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions on Sept. 1 and 2 for a special winter production currently called the “Whitefish Holiday TBA Winter Community Show Down Snow Down Untitled Gala Extravaganza Jubilee Talent Show” in keeping with these upside-down times.
As part of WTC’s commitment to engage the community, they will be creating and staging an original variety show this holiday season. They are looking for singers, dancers, jugglers, musicians, acrobats… what can you do? Prepare what you think would be great addition for a creative holiday show! A piano player will be provided if you plan to sing at your audition but please bring sheet music for your piece.
Families, adults, teens, and kids of all ages are welcome to audition. There will be scripts and coaching for younger kids who might not have a prepared audition. Those in the cast may also be assigned other parts in the show from our team of talented writers that include Mikey Winn, David Blair, Becky Rygg, and Collette Strean. Under direction by Kim Krueger, the final production will be given a theme and a real title, tying it up with a big holiday bow for friends, family and the whole community. Even those far-away loved ones you can’t see this holiday season will be able to view this show from the comfort of their own homes with WTC’s new digital streaming capabilities.
As this is not a typical audition, those who would like to participate must sign up for an audition time. Call Kim Krueger at 862-5371 during the week of Aug. 24 to sign up for your audition time slot. Then during the audition dates, please enter at the north side of the building near WTC’s parking lot and conference room.
