WLGC puts course improvements on hold
Member/Guest Tournament
This coming weekend, Aug. 22-23 Whitefish Lake Golf Club hosts the annual member/guest tournament. The tournament will be on the South Course on Saturday and move to the North on Sunday with the course not in use available for member and guest play. This popular event features two person teams with a net best ball format on day one and a modified Stapleford scoring system on day two. The tournament is once again filled to capacity with promises to be a fun filled two day tournament with lots of prizes.
Course improvements on hold
Normally Whitefish Lake Golf Club has a busy fall schedule with course improvement projects making the facility better for the coming years. Due to the COVID pandemic and reduced revenue those projects, such as a new South Course practice green, will be shelved until 2021 unless we receive an unexpected windfall. Some cart path improvements are being considered but that is generally routine maintenance of our over 12 miles of paths.
What should you practice
Many golfers will go to the range, hit drivers for an hour, and consider this practice. While that may be fun, it will not help your improvement unless that is the weakest part of our game. First, decide what the weakest area of your game is. It could be chipping, pitching, putting, or wedge play. Learn what you need to correct those mistakes, and then devote your practice time to this one area. Your scores will improve a great deal and you can turn a weakness into strength. Keep practicing with a purpose and resolve to improve those shots that haunt you.
