Close battles expected for annual Club Championship

| August 4, 2020 12:25 PM

Golfer Rounds Down Over-all

Members are enjoying the outdoors at the golf course this season with the total rounds played by our locals up substantially. It should be no surprise that the number of guest rounds is down giving the closed Canadian border.

It appears that everywhere people can recreate outdoors is getting a rush of participants from golf to floating the rivers and hiking on your favorite trails.

Club Championship

There should be some close battles for the club championship this year with good participation in all the divisions. With Coral Schultz not playing this year the ladies division should be wide open with a few favorites like Karen Jacobson and Chelsey Ray leading the pack. In the men’s division expect to see Shawn Tucker in the mix with WHS standout Cameron Kahle a strong contender. Carroll Lilly is expected to capture yet another Senior title to add to his list of record streak possibly challenged by Dow Powell or Rod Brady. The ladies senior division could be wide open with lots of challengers. In the Super Seniors, Dave Streeter is the defending champion and should retain his title.

Put your left hand in charge

When you are chipping and pitching the ball, grip a little more firmly with your left hand. This will signal to the let the left hand lead the face into the shot and not allow the right hand to roll over. Feel as if the left hand is in control of the shot and the right hand is just along for the ride. Again always pick an exact spot where you want the ball to land and then roll out.

Masks required inside

Masks are required indoors at all times unless you are seated and served either food or drink. Please continue to follow the guidelines of social distancing to respect your fellow golfers and employees.
