Whitefish Police are investigating after three women collapsed at a downtown bar and were transported to the hospital over the weekend.

During the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 27 the women, who were patrons of Casey’s bar, were transported to North Valley Hospital and treated after collapsing or losing consciousness, according to a press release.

The women, who were all treated and released, did not know each other. The only known substance detected through an initial investigation is alcohol, the police department said.

A post on the bar’s Facebook page Thursday said “Casey’s is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for our guests. This past Saturday night, there were multiple incidents of the criminal use of a ‘date rape’ drug at our establishment.”

However, the police department said in its release due to “unsubstantiated information on social media” it would provide further accurate information once the investigation is completed.

Whitefish Police note that Casey’s and the victims are cooperating with the investigation and that evidence has been submitted to the Montana State Crime Lab for analysis.
