Lady Bulldogs split in full week of volleyball
The Lady Bulldogs went 2-2 in a busy week of volleyball, falling to Libby and Corvallis but defeating Hamilton and Browning.
Last Tuesday the team traveled for a road battle with Libby but fell in three sets.
Earlier in the season Whitefish beat the Loggers in five sets at home, and the season series now sits at 1-1.
“We just couldn’t quite put together a win,” head coach Addy Connelly said. “There were some highs and lows in Libby. We need to be working on getting low in our positions and we’re still reacting while they’re hitting. We’ve been working on that in what little practices we have.”
Then on Saturday Whitefish traveled down to the Bitterroot for a doubleheader against Hamilton and Corvallis.
Both games went three sets, with Whitefish losing to the Blue Devils but winning over the Broncs.
Whitefish came up with another 3-0 win over Browning on Monday.
Connelly said the scores were closer than they let on.
“They were tight games, but we got it done,” she said.
This week the Lady Dogs hosted Polson on Senior Night Tuesday. On Thursday they’ll travel up to Eureka for a road battle, with varsity starting around 7 p.m.
Connelly says heading into this final stretch of games, she’s just trying to tighten things up and let her players recover before the postseason.
“It’s just a ton of volleyball. We’re trying to keep everyone healthy physically and mentally. We’re just trying to get in a good spot heading into the divisional tournament so [Polson’s] going to be a good game for us.”
“We’re making some good choices, we’re figuring out some good sets with our setters. Just getting more touches on balls helps our setters, our passing has definitely been better and our serving has been more consistent, which is key,” she added.
