Resort sets new record selling more than 11,000 season passes
For the first time in its history, Whitefish Mountain Resort has surpassed the 11,000 mark for winter season pass sales.
The resort on Friday announced it had set a new record with more than 11,500 season passes sold. This is the fourth consecutive year of record season pass sales and it is 7 percent ahead of last year, which broke the 10,000-pass mark also in early October.
Whitefish Mountain Resort Director of Sales and Marketing Nick Polumbus said the resort is thrilled to watch its family of skiers grow again.
“Skiing is awesome and the fact that more and more people want to ski with us every year is also awesome,” Polumbus said in a statement. “We’re extremely proud of the experience we are able to provide our community of pass holders and we’re equally proud that ‘community’ is the best word to describe what we have here. Whitefish skiers are the best and most fun skiers to be around because they understand it’s a way of life and they value the relationships and all that goes into a winter on this incredible mountain.”
The winter season 2018-19 saw the resort record total skier visits at 384,800, which was the third consecutive year with an increase.
Last year the resort also set a new record in the number of its adult “Learn to Ski/Ride” lessons sold as well as an increase in the enrollment in its season-long kids programs. The resort’s Ski & Ride School continues to break records in enrollment for seasonal programs and teams, according to the resort, and for the first time in its history the Freestyle Team sold out before the Sept. 30 deadline, and Kids Custom groups were up. Additionally, in the adult programs the Ladies Day saw a large increase in participants.
Mike Davies, Snow Sports director at Whitefish Mountain Resort, says the resort is thrilled to welcome more skiers and snowboarders at all levels and ages. The goal, he notes, is to create a safe and fun environment to learn and develop lifelong skills for everyone.
“It’s been another strong early season sale with growth in new and exciting areas,” Davies said in a statement. “The explosion in popularity of the Freestyle Team is a credit to our coaches as well as showing the popularity in this segment of skiing and snowboarding.”
Whitefish Mountain Resort management says it was pleased how the Ed & Mully’s remodel played a role with enhancing the guest experience las season. This year the restaurant will extend its hours adding breakfast service five days a week on Thursday through Monday beginning Dec. 20, as well as serving food until 8:30 p.m. during Night Skiing.
Season pass holders skied more during the 2018-19 season setting a new record of 2,138,100,034 vertical feet skied. Last season marked the third time reaching the milestone of 2 billion vertical feet skied. Season pass holders make up roughly half of the skiing population at Whitefish Mountain Resort.
The resort is set to open for the 2019-2020 season on Dec. 6.
