Food Bank celebrates its founder along with fifth year in new building
North Valley Food Bank is celebrating its fifth year in its new facility with a building dedication to honor food bank founder June Munski-Feenan.
The ceremony is Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. at the food bank.
“June’s role in our community was tremendous,” said food bank Executive Director Jessy Lee. “She was called to serve. The food bank and Whitefish are lucky to have been a part of her life.”
Munski-Feenan started Whitefish’s food bank in 1977 out of her garage. At the time of her passing, she had grown the organization to the 6,000 square foot operation it is today. Through her tireless efforts, Munski-Feenan worked closely with donors to build the facility on Flathead Avenue with zero debt. She worked for nearly 40 years without taking a single paycheck.
“There was nothing self-serving about June, and we could see how selflessly she promoted the interests of her organization,” long-time donors Jo-Ann and Jim Armstrong said.
The Armstrongs purchased a bronze plaque for the building dedication saying they are thrilled to dedicate the building in her memory as she made an impact on the lives of food bank recipients, volunteers and donors.
“We want to gather our neighbors on Wednesday to celebrate her life and commitment to North Valley Food Bank,” Lee said of Munski-Feenan.
The building dedication will be held on the front steps of North Valley Food Bank. All who are interested are welcome and encouraged to join. For more information, contact Jessy Lee at 406-862-5863 or at director@northvalleyfoodbank.org.
