Wear hunter orange
Hunter orange is a proven safety factor, reducing by up to 95% accidental shootings where someone is mistaken for a game animal. Hunter deaths and injuries declined markedly in Montana after adoption of mandatory Hunter Education and requiring 400 square inches of hunter orange above the waist. The Flathead Electric Cooperative Roundup For Safety Program, Flathead Wildlife, Inc., and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks have teamed up again to provide a free hunter orange safety vest to every graduate of FWP’s Hunter Education Program in Flathead County. You’ll see excited young hunters coming through game check stations wearing the vests and they are often visible in the “Preserve the Tradition” photos by FWI and FWP showing young hunters with game. If you want your young hunter’s success featured on FWI’s website or Facebook, send photos to flatheadwildlife.inc@gmail.com.
Thanks to Roundup For Safety for supporting youth in the outdoors and for making their time afield fun and safe. Whether hunting or just hiking, wear hunter orange, it works.
