Speech and debate takes third in Ronan tourney
The Whitefish speech and debate team had another strong outing in Ronan, taking third in overall sweepstakes points.
Abigail Bowden followed up her first-place finish last week with a perfect score in extemporaneous speaking, and Adrienne Healy also took first in impromptu.
Logan Mercer rounded out the trio of first-place winners with a win in humorous interpretation.
Luca Wells took fifth in Lincoln-Douglas debate, Aidan Reid third in original oratory, Elizabeth Campbell fifth in original oratory, and Lucy Schindler fifth in dramatic interpretation.
Gabby Pickert also took sixth in dramatic interpretation, Eden Scrafford seventh in humorous, and the duo of Stacia Tremper and Sophie Tabor took seventh in public forum debate.
As a team, head coach Sara Mueller said she likes what she’s seeing so far, but she knows they have competition.
“We’ve certainly learned that we have our work cut out for us to stay competitive with Columbia Falls and Frenchtown and will be heading into an off week with a renewed focus,” she said.
