Despite coming into the divisional tournament as a third seed, the Lady Dogs couldn’t make the push to advance to state.

Whitefish lost both of its games in the tournament, where only the top four advance.

On Thursday, after beating Browning earlier in the week in a play-in battle, the Lady Dogs faced off against Butte Central, the No. 2 seed out of the southwest.

Butte took all three games, however, by scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-20, sending Whitefish into loser out play the following day.

Kaiah Moore racked up 10 of the team’s 24 kills in that game, while Mikenna Ells notched 13 of Whitefish’s 22 assists.

They managed one win on Friday against Stevensville but still fell three games to one.

Polson and Columbia Falls were the two north teams to advance to state.

Overall, Whitefish went 10-7 on the season for third place in Northwest A competition.

The team graduates seniors Moore, Luci Ridgeway, Marey Akey, Hope Brown and Payton Reisinger.
