The Lady Dogs are headed for the Western A Divisional Tournament in Dillon this week after defeating Browning in a play-in match on Monday.

Whitefish took Browning down in three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-11.

Kaiah Moore led the team in kills with nine, while Luci Ridgeway racked up 10 of the team’s 39 digs and 9 of the team’s 15 aces.

Head coach Addy Connelly admitted her team looked a little sleepy at times, but on Tuesday morning said her girls got right back at it in practice.

“We’re lacking a little fight right now, but in practice this morning they looked great. Sometimes it’s tough to play a team you’ve beat a couple times and play with intensity,” Connelly said. “It was a good win going into divisionals.”

The Western A Divisional tournament runs from Thursday through Saturday. Based on seeding, the Lady Dogs will play Butte Central in their first game of the tournament on Thursday at 2 p.m.

However, Connelly says her team has some things to address before they hit the court in Dillon.

“We just need to clean up our unforced errors. Just passing into the net, serving into the net. Lack of communication is the one that frustrates me, just making unforced errors because we’re not talking. That’s kind of been our downfall all year,” she said.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to get down there and compete and show them what we can do,” she added.
