Cart path use

With nearly all our cart paths at 9 feet in width there is ample room for carts to pass while both carts keep all four tires on the path. Therefore, there is no need to pull off the path when parking at the green or tee areas. The more we use the paths the better the course conditions remain in their best possible shape. Always use the 90-degree rule when playing even if full access to carts is allowed. If you notice an area that looks stressed, please avoid driving in that location, ie., a place where it appears the turf is thinning or other carts have created a wear pattern.

Bulldog Open June 16

The tournament we refer to as the “fifth major” is coming soon to Whitefish Lake Golf Club with another of the fun filled “Bulldog Open” scrambles on Father’s Day, June 16. Entry forms will be available in the Golf Shop soon, so grab three of your friends, or your usual suspects and register before the field is full. This is the primary source of funding for the WLGA Junior Golf Program and the Whitefish High School Golf Teams. Lots of prizes, two meals, fun and various flights make everyone a winner in the Bulldog Open.

Look for a bail-out area

On difficult holes, the golf course architect will often give the players a safe place to hit as an alternative. Examine the hole to see where you can safely hit the ball to have the best chance to get up and down and save par. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses can go a long way toward a lower handicap. Too often we turn what could be bogie by going for a shot that is not in our repertoire and then get a double or worse. It may be fun to try the shot that Phil would hit, but most of never spend the time needed to perfect those shots.

Congrats to Lyndsie Sebby and Adam Long

Lyndsie Sebby was recognized as the Youth Player Development Award winner by the Northwest PGA Association for all her efforts with Junior Golf in 2018-19. Adam Long was named the Assistant Golf Professional of the year by the organization as well. Congrats to both as prime examples of the high quality staff at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.
