City holds forums on downtown parking

The City of Whitefish is holding two public input forums on parking issues in the downtown core as part of their public outreach for the downtown parking improvement plan currently underway.
The first forum, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 13, is for the general public, and will be an opportunity for residents to discuss their parking needs, issues, and commuter patterns. The second forum, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, will focus on the parking issues and needs related to downtown businesses and institutions.
The public is welcome to attend either meeting, both to be held in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of Whitefish City Hall.
“During our peak summer visitor season, traffic is lame and it can be a royal pain to find a parking space,” said Dave Taylor, Planning Director. “That affects the quality of life for our residents as well as our visitor experience. Downtown businesses are impacted as well. Our goal with this plan is to reduce downtown congestion and improve the parking experience for everyone.”
The city’s professional parking consultant, Dixon Resources, will be leading the dialogue at the forums.
The plan encompasses the downtown WB-3 commercial zone, including the Railway District, and work on the plan will continue through the summer 2019.
