Ronan, Libby no problem for Lady Bulldogs tennis
The Lady Dogs made quick work of Ronan and Libby over the weekend, coming away with just one loss in the two duals.
Whitefish beat Ronan 7-0 and Libby 6-1 on Saturday.
“It was a good day,” head coach Patrick Dryden said. “Libby’s got a good squad, so there were some really good matchups and we came out on top in most of them.”
The lone loss for the Bulldogs came in a tough No. 2 singles match against the Loggers, where Claire Carloss fell to Jessika Jones 6-4, 6-4.
Dryden said it’s been a back and forth between Jones and Carloss this season.
“She beat that girl about two weeks ago and Jones evened the score. They’re two of the top players in the conference,” he said.
This week Whitefish will get in a Friday make-up match against Polson before hosting Hamilton and Corvallis on Saturday.
All matches will be in Whitefish at either the Riverside or Grouse Mountain Lodge courts.
They’ll get started on Friday against the Lady Pirates at 3 p.m. On Saturday they’ll start against Hamilton at 11 a.m. and take on Corvallis later at 3 p.m.
Dryden said he’s looking at the Polson dual as being a key day leading into the postseason.
“The Polson match could have some implications for seeding. That’s probably the most important dual match of the year. I want to put a little pressure on the kids and see how they respond,” he said.
