Golf course welcomes new members

Parking lots completed

Thanks again to all our members and guests for being patient through the renovation of the parking lots at the golf course. Now that we are finished the lots look great and should last for years down the road. Also thanks to our good neighbors, Grouse Mountain Lodge, for accommodating our overflow parking.

Register for Golf Clinics

Golf Clinics for all interested ladies will be held starting on May 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. The clinics begin with emphasis on the short game starting with putting, easily the most important part of golf. Christine Newton and Lyndsie Sebby will be instructors for the clinics and they have an excellent approach that allows the participants to enjoy the game and measure their success as they progress through the clinics. Call 862-5960 to register for the clinics.

New members welcome

Memberships are always welcome at the golf course at any time during the season. If you are a first time member of Whitefish Lake Golf Club you get the lower early season rate regardless of when you join.

Rules of golf

The newest changes to the rules of golf were designed to make the game easier to understand and speed up the pace of play. One such rule allows players a choice of leaving the flagstick in the hole while putting without a penalty for hitting the stick with the ball. Another rule change is that when dropping the ball from a legal drop situation the ball should be dropped from knee height instead of shoulder height. This change limits the chance the ball will bounce and roll away from the spot of the intended drop, therefore often eliminating the need for a second drop.
