Ballet Company presents 'Sleeping Beauty' this weekend

| May 7, 2019 7:10 AM

Northwest Ballet Company is presenting the classic story of “Sleeping Beauty” for Mother’s Day weekend at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts.

The 39th annual spring show features the choreography of the talented story teller and director, Marisa Roth, awe inspiring costumes every ballerina would envision themselves wearing, and beautifully gifted dancers living their childhood dreams.

Chicago professional guest artist Malachi Squires, who is a Northwest Ballet Company alumnus, will dance the part of the Prince.

“We are so ecstatic to offer this to our community as it’s not often that a male professional ballet dancer is seen performing in our Valley, or the surrounding areas,” Roth said. “We know how much our audiences adore the Northwest Ballet’s Nutcracker and they’ll be just as enchanted with this upcoming company production.”

For principal dancer and senior at Whitefish High School Regan Tintzman this will be her last show with the company.

“Everyone’s always saying to live in the moment and enjoy every minute, and I am realizing that now,” she said. “The Northwest Ballet School has given me some of my best friendships through this family that Miss Marisa has created.”

Tickets for reserved seating for this Mother’s Day weekend event are available until May 11 at the Kalispell Grand Hotel, 100 Main Street, Kalispell, (406)755-8100. On show days, tickets will only be available at the Bigfork Center’s box office (526 Electric Avenue, Bigfork) one hour before the performances start.
