Thanks for skiing program

| May 3, 2019 11:46 AM

Did you know that this last winter over 500 elementary students grades three through six went on a field trip up to the Whitefish Mountain Resort to ski or snowboard? As a matter of fact, Sue Moll was once again able to organize two trips per class.

Many of these students make it up to the resort to ski quite often, but for quite a few of them, this is their only opportunity to experience skiing or snowboarding and that is why Sue does this. She wants as many kids as possible to learn to ski or snowboard.

Sue spends many volunteer hours organizing the paperwork; scheduling the buses (thanks, Kevin Becker!); coordinating with the resort the times we can be there and the incredible ski instructors (thanks WMR for being so accommodating and flexible);lining up the rentals for those who don’t have equipment (what an awesome staff in the rental department!); and organizing other volunteers to buckle up boots, give the kids their tickets, and to get each child to the right ski lesson group on time.

This wonderful experience couldn’t happen without the financial support of the Big Mountain Ski Club and Whitefish Mountain Resort. The cost is very reasonable for each child and scholarships are offered for those who can’t afford it.

So thanks to all who make this possible from all the students who participated, the parents and the teachers. We appreciate your time and effort to make this happen. And next year, it looks like the seventh graders will be able to go also!
