Connelly resigns as volleyball head coach

The Lady Bulldogs volleyball team is looking for a new head coach following former coach Addy Connelly’s resignation.
Connelly stepped in as the head coach a few weeks into the 2017 season after longtime coach Jackie Fuller left the post due to internal conflicts with the team. Connelly is a Title I teacher at Muldown Elementary and served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Lady Dogs program prior to becoming head coach.
“In the best interest of my family, I need to step away from these duties,” Connelly wrote in her resignation letter. “This is due to the time required during [the] season and out of season to create a competitive team. I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to coach in the Whitefish School District.”
Under Connelly, the team has advanced to the state tournament in both of the last two years but only won one of five matches combined.
Last year the team went 11-10 overall and 6-4 in conference.
“Addy has done an outstanding job leading our volleyball program the past two seasons,” WHS Activities Director Aric Harris said. “I know it was a tough decision for Addy to step down at this time, but I fully understand her determining factors and that is family comes first. I wish her and her family the very best.”
Connelly also served as head volleyball coach at Columbia Falls High School from 2006 to 2013.
