Volunteers still needed for Junior Achievement program

Volunteers are still needed to help lead Junior Achievement programming at Whitefish Schools.

Volunteers are needed for the fourth grade at Muldown Elementary School and eighth grade at Whitefish Middle School.

Junior Achievement is a nonprofit that partners a community volunteer with a classroom to lead short games and discussions focused on work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.

Volunteers visit their partnered classroom a total of five or six times, usually once a week for five to six weeks. Each visit is about 40 to 45 minutes long. Every resource needed to lead the activities is provided in a kit, that includes worksheets and stickers and fun stuff the students love.

The program is volunteer led, so that students hear from other perspectives and learn more about careers in their community.

Volunteers are needed for the JA Program: JA Our Region, which introduces fourth-grade students to entrepreneurship and upper elementary grade social studies learning objectives, including regions, resources, supply chains, and problem solving. Volunteers will work in teacher Andrew Staub’s fourth-grade classroom for five visits between April 1 and May 31.

Volunteers are needed at Whitefish Middle School for the JA Program: JA It’s My Business, which encourages students to use entrepreneurial thinking as they explore higher education and career choices. Volunteers will work with teacher Jeanne Brist and eighth-grade students six times between April 1 and May 31 from 8:51 a.m. to 9:38 a.m.
