Antique and classic wooden boats will fill the waters of Whitefish Lake this weekend for the annual Whitefish Woody Weekend VIII.

The Big Sky Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society presents the event set for June 28-30.

Forty-three classic boats are expected to participate in events related to the weekend. Whitefish Woody Weekend attracts award-winning classic wood boats from all across the Pacific Northwest. The event, hosted by The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, includes wooden boats making the trip here from California and Florida. There are set to be more than 13 boats new to this year’s event.

Whitefish Woody Weekend VIII will begin on Friday evening June 28 with a cruise/parade around beautiful Whitefish Lake. The boats on Saturday, June 29 will be on public display at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday morning, June 30 will feature a poker run with the wood boats out on the lake followed by a barbecue on the beach at the Lodge for event participants.

The public is encouraged to join the fun on the lake or on the beaches, decks and docks around the lake for the Friday evening cruise; or to enjoy the boats up close and meet the owners of these fine representatives of the art and craftsmanship of the past on Saturday at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake marina. There will also be hourly drawings for a free classic boat ride throughout the day on Saturday.

All events are free and open to the public. For more information contact Tim Salt at 406-862-5085 or whitefishwoodyweekend@gmail.com.
