Six candidates have filed to run in the Whitefish City Council election.

Incumbent Frank Sweeney has filed for re-election. He is joined by newcomers Steve Qunell, Ben Davis, Harry “Hap” Peters, Terry Petersen and Rebecca Norton in the race.

Three Council seats are up for election this year, including seats currently held by Richard Hildner and Katie Williams, both of whom did not file for re-election.

Mayor John Muhlfeld is running unopposed looking to secure his third term as mayor.

Filing for municipal elections closed on Monday. Election Day is Nov. 5.
