Dryden, Schulz receive coaching awards
Adding to a stellar spring for Bulldog sports, Whitefish also received two Coaches of the Year awards for girls tennis coach Patrick Dryden and track coach Derek Schulz.
The Montana Coaches Association on June 6 announced the spring Coaches of the Year, which are voted on by MCA members.
The coaches will be honored at the MCA Awards Program on Aug. 1 in Great Falls.
Dryden coached his team to a girls tennis title this year, coming away with overall singles champion Gracie Smyley, doubles champions Olivia Potthoff and Aubrey Hanks and the team trophy.
Schulz coached the girls track team to its first title in 35 years at the Class A State Track Meet in Laurel last month. Whitefish had champions in Mikenna Ells in the 400 as well as the 400 and 1,600 relays.
