Bulldog Open this Sunday

There are still some spots open for teams in the 2019 Bulldog Open so hurry in to register your team and support the Junior Golf Program for our Whitefish Kids. The junior program at Whitefish Lake Golf Club is totally FREE for all participants and the course will supply clubs for juniors if needed. Instruction for Junior Golf is conducted by the Golf Professional staff at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

Remember that your entry fee for the Bulldog Open includes a lunch and evening barbecue along with numerous prizes for all flights, a chance to win a new car with a hole in one on Hole 4 during the tournament. The car is sponsored by Don K and Hub International insurance. Jesco Power Sports will have a side by side vehicle to give away to the winner of the putting contest who gets through the preliminary rounds and then sinks a 50-foot putt. The Gary Norby Foundation board of directors and all the junior players really appreciate the support of the community in keeping the Junior Golf Program going for now over 40 years.

Next Project Hole 12 Cart Path

Renovation of the cart path on Hole 12 of the North Course will begin shortly with the path being relocated inside the tree line and more out of play. The new path will also be wider as are all our newer paths. Maintaining cart paths is a never ending project with over 12 miles of path covering both courses. We remind you that it is not necessary, or preferred that you pull off the path when parking by the green or tee. The wider paths allow for two carts to pass with both keeping all four wheels on the path. The more we use the paths the better the fairways.

Look for bail out area

On most difficult holes, the golf course architect will often give the players a bail out area. If, for example, you have a shot over water to a pin that is placed near the hazard, look for an area where you can land the ball safely and then pitch or chip to the hole for your next shot. Always look for a safe way to play these difficult holes where you can give yourself the best chance to score and avoid a big number. Know your game and play the percentages saving the gambling for a poker table.

Pace of Play

As one of the first tips to ensure a good pace of play is to always be ready to hit when it is your turn. You can check the distance and select your club while your partner is preparing to hit and then be ready when it’s your turn, you don’t have to wait.
