Portion of Second Street closes July 30 for road work

| July 23, 2019 2:25 PM

East Second Street will be closed to all vehicles between Spokane Avenue and Dodger Lane on Tuesday, July 30 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The City of Whitefish is treating the entire road surface with a new asphalt preservation product making the closure necessary, says Public Works Director Craig Workman. “This will improve the quality of the roadway and protect the asphalt pavement for years to come,” Workman said. “Performing routine roadway maintenance treatments allows us to keep our streets in good condition and helps to prevent expensive repairs.”

Traffic signs and barriers will be in place and the public is advised not to drive, park, or walk on the roadway until the treatment has completely dried and the barriers have been removed.

Residents who live on this stretch of East Second Street should move their vehicles to a nearby street before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, if they intend to use the vehicle before 5 p.m.

The WAG dog park will remain open, but access will only be available from Armory Road or East Edgewood Drive.

The city apologizes for any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciates the patience of the public as the project is completed.
