WLGC Club Championship coming Aug. 10

| July 16, 2019 1:22 PM

Club Championship

The Annual Club Championship is set for Aug. 10 and 11 with entries available online through the Golf Genius program. Once again various flights are available for men and women, but players may only play in one division, i.e., not, for example, the Senior and Regular division. This is always a good chance to play in a tournament with your friends and challenge yourself to play your best. Please call the Golf Shop for more information or go online to golfwhitefish.com for entry forms and to register.

Governor’s Cup

The semi-annual Governor’s Cup will be played on the South Course this year on Aug. 2 and 3. This is a major event and fundraiser for the Montana State Chamber of Commerce to promote business in the state. The tournament rotates around the various courses in the Valley with Whitefish Lake Golf Club hosting every other year.

Member/Guest August 24 and 25

Another premier major event coming in August is the Annual Member/Guest two-day tournament on Aug. 24 and 25. This is a two-person team event with a best-ball format the first day and a modified Stapleford scoring system on day two. Great prizes are provided at registration along with various flights and divisions. Contact a non-member and go online to register your team for this year’s member guest tournament. Call the Golf Shop at 862-5960 for additional information.

Putting under pressure

Ever notice that under pressure we miss most of our putts to the right? That is caused by tension in our arms and hands thus preventing the release of the putter head. Make sure you maintain a light grip on the putter always when putting and you will see better distance control and more putts falling in the hole. Breathe, relax your muscles, see the putt falling in the hole, and trust your swing.
