The Whitefish School District Board trustees and a handful of district staff recently took a tour of the new Muldown Elementary School under construction near the current school.

Led by Owner’s Representative Dow Powell and members of the Martel Construction team, the tour provided an early look at the school, which has most of its steel erected and concrete poured, and is set to open in fall of 2020.

Voters last October approved a $26.5 million levy request by the district to construct the new school and construction began in July last year. The existing school faces issues like overcrowding and a failing infrastructure.

The new school was designed by architectural firm L’Heureux, Page and Werner and will be a two-story building with its own full-size gym and a student capacity of about 755 students.
