Ring takes two golds at Missoula swim meet

Preston Ring continued his excellent season with a pair of firsts at the Missoula Invite on Jan. 19.

Ring won the 50 freestyle (22.03) and 100 freestyle (47.98) at the meet, which featured top competitors from Class AA and A schools.

Logan Botner was the team’s other individual placer, finishing sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:01.56).

The boys 400 freestyle relay also took fifth (3:49.66).

On the girls side, Ada Qunell took first in the 200 freestyle (2:01.37) and second in the 100 butterfly (1:03.10).

Annie Sullivan took third in the 500 freestyle (5:43.17), while Nia Hanson took fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:10.74) and sixth in the 500 freestyle (6:03.80).

Helena Kunz took fifth in the 50 freestyle (27.04) as well.

The girls finished fifth in the team standings while the Whitefish boys were ninth.

The team has this weekend off before heading to Bozeman for the all-class state swim meet on Feb. 8-9. Last season both the boys and girls took second overall at the meet.
