The Nest, a clothing, gift and beauty boutique, downtown is offering a bit of almost everything.

“We’re a small boutique,” says Owner Brittany Brennan. “We offer gifts, kid’s clothes, everyday clothes and one of a kind items.”

Brennan has owned for the last seven years The Closet, a similar boutique shop in Hamilton. More recently she’s been traveling to different cities looking to open a second location and chose Whitefish.

Brennan, along with her husband and two daughters, relocated to Whitefish. The Nest opened in November on East First Street near Whitefish Middle School.

“Whitefish is where we all wanted to be,” she said. “I was looking for a place that had that specific downtown feel.”

The name — The Nest — comes from the idea that the shop carries everything one needs for their closet, including clothes, accessories and jewelry. Though it also carries items perfect for gifts like candles, journals, pens, key chains, coffee mugs and scarves.

Brennan says her daughters, ages 11 and 13, assist with selecting the clothing in the shop and her mother has a hand in picking out the gift items for sale.

“There’s all generations deciding,” she said. “There’s all ages helping so we have a little bit of everything.”

Clothes and other items in the boutique change frequently and often depend on the season. During the winter it’s warm socks and thermal wear, and in the summer it will be sandals and bathing suits.

“The holiday just passed so we had a lot of party dresses for Christmas and New Year, but now we’ll turn to winter casual,” Brennan said.

The Hamilton shop has a beauty salon in the back, and Brennan plans to replicate that on a smaller scale in The Nest. Brennan plans to begin doing wedding hair and makeup in the spring, and hopes to offer that out of the shop as well.
