It was tough going for the Lady Dogs on Thursday, who fell to rival Columbia Falls Wildkats 61-27.

Columbia Falls was hot from the start, extending their initial 13-3 run to 21-3 before a Peyton Kastella three cooled things off slightly for Whitefish.

The Lady Dogs (2-7) trailed 24-8 at the end of the quarter and 38-13 to end the half.

Kastella was the team’s leading scorer with 13. Gracie Smyley added five and Kaiah Moore four as well.

The team suffered another tough loss on Saturday, falling to Browning 47-34.

Whitefish trailed by just five points after one quarter, but a 14-4 run by Browning in the second had them up 26-11 at the half.

The Lady Dogs kept the second half close, even outscoring Browning 14-8 in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

Bender led the team with 11 points, while Moore and Smyley added nine and eight points.

This week the Lady Dogs will host Polson Friday night before traveling to Libby on Saturday.

Friday’s game will start at 6 p.m. Whitefish Winter Carnival’s Frey and Freya will be crowned just before the boys game begins at 7:30 p.m.
