Ski resort records second busiest day ever

Whitefish Mountain Resort recorded its second and third busiest days ever over the recent holiday week.

According to resort spokeswoman Riley Polumbus, the ski area’s busiest day last week was Sunday, Dec. 30 with 8,542 total skier visits. That marked the second busiest ever at the resort, behind the 8,601 total skier visits counted on Dec. 28, 2016.

The third busiest day ever was recorded on Saturday, Dec. 29 with 8,253 total skier visits.

The weekend between Christmas and New Year’s is often the busiest stretch of the season at the resort.

Total skier visits in the 2017-18 season eclipsed the 350,000 mark.

Big Mountain has a 61-inch settled base at the summit.
