Riders can now track location of SNOW bus

| January 2, 2019 3:19 AM

New GPS trackers in the SNOW buses will let powder hounds see how far away their bus is while they wait to grab a lift up to Big Mountain.

The free SNOW bus runs between stops in Whitefish and Whitefish Mountain Resort during ski season. The Big Mountain Commercial Association runs the bus system.

Now riders can visit the tracker site to see exactly where the bus is in real time. A link to the live tracker is at http://bigmtncommercial.org/tracker/.

“We have had to do some technical tweaking but the system is now up and running,” said Rick Cunningham, president of the Big Mountain Commercial Association. “We look forward to the new tracking system to better inform our riders of SNOW bus locations and times.”

In addition to tracking buses, once on the site by going to the bottom left of the site and clicking on “more route info,” riders can view the bus schedule.

On the schedule page, and at each bus stop on the schedule signs there are QR codes that can be scanned by smart phones to use the tracker system on the phone.

The SNOW bus provides about 80,000 free rides every winter.

The bus schedule can be viewed online at http://bigmtncommercial.org/.
