Mushers and dogs alike got their fair share of racing over the weekend at the Flathead Classic Sled Dog Race, held at Dog Creek Lodge near Olney.

The two-day race held competitions in various classes, including six-dog, four-dog, two-dog and more.

Linda Pierce, of Okanogan, Washington, won the six-dog class with a total race time of 2 hours and 51 minutes.

In the four-dog class, Dan Hanks from Couer d’Alene, Idaho won the two days with a time of 55:04.

In the two-dog skijoring race, Mikki Douglas won with a time of39:29. She also took first in the one-dog skijoring race with a time of 14:11.

Teresa Patterson of Corvallis won the one-dog fat bike race with a total time of 27:47.

Harleigh Dutton of Pinehurst, Idaho, was the only four-dog junior team to compete.

Steve Riggs was the winner of the Jack Beckstrom Best Cared for Team Award, which was named after Jack Beckstrom, who was instruental in bringing distance racing to Montana and died last year.

The winner of the Jack Beckstrom Sportsmanship Award was Clayton Perry. This award, also named after Jack Beckstrom supports the many years that Beckstrom worked putting on dog mushing symposiums to help mushers be better prepared to run distance racing and because he inspired people to be good sports no matter what happened.

Patterson won the Cold Weather Award after camping in subzero temperatures at the race site.
